'There are no words' - Tributes pour in for Irish woman who died suddenly in New York

Tributes have been pouring for Jenna Shovlin who passed away unexpectedly in Manhattan on Saturday, March 8, 2025.

Jenna was originally from Portnoo in Co. Donegal and had been living in New York for several years working for Warner Bros. film studio according to reports.

Messages of condolences and heartbreaking goodbyes have been left on rip.ie page by friends, relatives and colleagues who knew Jenna over the course of her life.

A friend from college wrote: "Jenna and I were college friends and spent a year living together in Toulouse. Although we lost touch in the last year or two, I had always spoke to her travelling to NYC for a reunion where I knew we would pick up straight away from where we left off.

Jenna was the most caring, funny and beautiful soul. So ambitious and gave everything 100%. She was so fun to be around and could light up any room with her gorgeous smile and infectious laugh. Family meant everything to Jenna, and she always made it her mission to keep in touch whilst living in France.

I'll miss her so much and think about our funny stories together very fondly! Love always Jenna,' wee roller' RIP."

Another person said: "I was only around Jenna for a total of three weeks. She stepped down from a position on a job I later took over. Had it not been for her, I wouldn’t have had that job. And had it not been for her bright smile, welcoming presence, and refreshingly enthusiastic demeanor, I wouldn’t be here today, typing this. The best parts of that job were right before she stepped off, and those moments have stayed with me—and always will.

I had such little interaction with her, yet she made such a deep impact on me. To hear she’s no longer here causes a devastation within me that I can’t describe. I can only imagine the pain being suffered by those who knew her better than I did. Her boisterous laugh echoes in our minds. Sadly, but surely, I know that she is in a better place as we mourn her irreplaceable loss

Goodbye, Jenna Shovlin. I will always remember you."

Another former colleague said: "I was deeply saddened to hear about Jenna's passing. She was such a vibrant spirit, always up for a laugh, and truly the life of any gathering. Her professionalism and incredible work ethic were unmatched, and she was a pillar for all of us—especially as the backbone of the Irish crew in Canada.

It was an absolute honor to know her, and her memory will live on in the hearts of everyone she touched. Please know that my thoughts are with you all during this difficult time."

Jenna will be sadly missed by her heartbroken parents, Frankie and Kathleen, brothers Christopher (Tanya), Keith (Hannah), nieces Lilly and Jodie, Aunts, Uncles, cousins, extended family, friends and neighbours. Funeral are yet to be announced.
