'What a little warrior'- Boy stabbed at school meet Ireland team before big surprise

11-year-old Mason from Finglas joined Republic of Ireland seniors football training on Tuesday, March 18, as he continues his recovery after being stabbed at school earlier this month.

Mason was joined with his little brother as he is greeted by Ireland player Nathan Collins who told him, "I heard what happened to you, you're a good strong boy, I don't know how you do that but that lads wanted to give you this...".

The Brentford defender gave the boy a signed Ireland jersey to honour his bravery and his love for football.

In the video, which is shown below, the boy finds out for the first time that he will be the guest of honour for the team at the Senegal match at the Aviva Stadium.

"Mason has shown tremendous bravery & will be our guest of honour for the Senegal match at the Aviva Stadium in June. We’re all with you, Mason!", said Ireland Football on X.

Comments have poured in to celebrate the young boys recovery journey with one person writing,

"What a little warrior. Still in recovery after a horrific stabbing at his school. It's hard to imagine. God bless everyone involved and of course the star. Mason such a brave young man."
