The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has issued an urgent recall notice for a batch of popular ice-cream sold by a leading Irish supermarket due to a "chemical smell and taste".
The alert was issued on Friday for a batch of Lidl's one-litre tubs of Dairy Farm Vanilla Ice Cream.
In a statement, the FSAI stated: “The above batch of Dairy Farm Vanilla Ice Cream is being recalled due to some customers experiencing a chemical smell and/or taste from the product.
"Point-of-sale recall notices will be displayed in Lidl stores."
The recall applies to one-litre tubs of Dairy Farm Vanilla Ice Cream with approval number IE 1065 EC, batch code L24356B, and a best before date of June 2026.
Consumers are advised not to eat the implicated batch, with point of sale and recall notices displayed in Lidl stores.
