Tributes have poured in following the tragic death of young boy Michael Coffey from Kerry, who passed away after being struck by a tractor on Monday evening.
Michael, described as "one of the nicest young fellas you could ever talk to", was pronounced dead at the scene following the fatal accident at Beaufort Bridge in Kerry at around 7.30pm on Monday.
The driver of the tractor, a man in his 20s, was uninjured.
Members of Michael's heartbroken family have lead tributes on social media, describing their shock and heartache of the tragic news.
"Shock is not word to say rip to my cousin Michael best hearted young fella you could get God give you good bed in heaven and look over your family this time", said Michael's cousin James Coffey.
"Rest in peace my handsome nephew Michael, gone too soon fly high watch over your daddy and mommy. Only 1 Michael Coffey simply the best my nephew", wrote another heartbroken relative.
"Oh the pain in my heart I have writing this my lovely cousin I can’t believe that you're gone oh Michael I love you with my whole heart Michael...always was like an older brother to me what am I gone do without u Michael...just knows you're getting the best bed up there brother. I love u with my whole heart Michael", wrote another devastated cousin of young Michael's.
Michael is the second child to die following an accident on Irish roads this week.
Six-year-old Ula Grigaityte, who has been described as "a beautiful child", passed away last weekend after she was struck by a lorry on in Galway. She was out for bicycle ride with her father at the time of the collision.
The driver of the lorry, a man in his 30's was uninjured.
Investigations are now underway following Michael's death as investigating Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to the incident to come forward.
Investigating Gardaí are specifically appealing to any road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and who were travelling in the area of Beaufort Bridge, between 7pm and 7.45pm on Monday, to make this footage available.
