Witnesses sought as two women are hospitalised following hit-and-run in small Irish town

Witnesses are being sought following the incident which happened at Main Street, Daingean, County Offaly shortly before midnight on Thursday last, April 3

Gardaí are appealing for information on the whereabouts of a jeep which left the scene of a road collision which resulted in two women being hospitalised.
Witnesses are being sought following the incident which happened at Main Street, Daingean, County Offaly shortly before midnight on Thursday last, April 3.

"Two female passengers of the vehicle, aged in their 20s, were conveyed to Midland Regional Hospital Tullamore for treatment of serious injuries, believed to be non-life-threatening at this time," said a garda spokesperson who added that the driver of the jeep failed to remain at the scene.

A technical examination of the scene was completed by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to come forward.

Road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and who were travelling in the Daingean area, between 8pm and 11.50pm, are asked to make this footage available to gardai.

Gardaí say they are particularly interested in the movements of a white 172L-registered Toyota Hi-Lux jeep which was observed in the area around the time of the collision.
