Also increasing by 15% are the income thresholds for full-time student contribution. The postgraduate fee contribution is too set for an upgrade as the income threshold will increase from €55,240 to €64,315.

Students who receive a scholarship from public funds that are listed as an eligibility exclusion under the Student Grant Scheme that does not fully cover all fees may also be eligible for a grant to cover the fees remaining.

The nationality criteria will also be expanded to include applicants whose permission to reside in the State was granted in accordance with the Department of Justice’s Regularisation Scheme for undocumented migrants and persons whose permission to remain as the parents of an Irish-born citizen child.

For those applying for SUSI, or planning on applying, the priority closing date for renewal applications is June 5. For those making a new application, the priority closing date is July 10.

A spokesperson for SUSI said, "We look forward to working with you to ensure your constituents continue to receive SUSI’s high level of service."
