Baby Maya Dube was born in Rotunda hospital and weighed only 400g
Rotunda Hospital in Dublin has seen its smallest baby ever that could fit into her mother's hands and weighed only 400g, RTE One News has reported.
Baby Maya Dube had been cared for in the neonatal unit at Rotunda Hospital for almost four months, according to RTE, and she is the smallest baby cared for by the team.
The baby sent spent two weeks in an incubator, according to RTE, and recently got the all-clear to go home.
The mother of the baby girl, Ms Dube, was juggling college studies while visiting her daughter in the Rotunda until she was discharged, RTE said in a report.
"It is so nice to have her home. We had a great night last night, she didn’t actually give me any issues! I was thinking she might be difficult, but no, she did well," Ms Dube told RTE.

"When we brought her to the neonatal unit and we cut the cord to remove the clamp, she went down to 380 grams, so she was super, super tiny," consultant Neonatologist at Rotunda Hospital, Dr Michael Boyle, told RTE.
"She fit into my hand. I was at her delivery. She was a tiny little thing, but she was mighty from the get-go," Dr Boyle added.
