ALERT: Gardai issue urgent appeal to motorists as they attend multiple road crashes

Gardai have shared this image of one road crash they attended this Easter Saturday

Gardai are appealing to motorists to slow down and to exercise caution as roads across the country are 'trickier than usual' this Easter weekend.

While all of the Met Éireann rain warnings have now been lifted, there is still a risk of isolated heavy showers across the country for the remainder of the bank holiday weekend.

In an appeal on social media, gardaí said members across the country have responded to a number of single-vehicle collisions this Saturday.

"Drivers are to be advised that following the heavy rainfall, road conditions are trickier than usual. Please exercise caution, reduce speed and anticipate surface water on the roads," reads the post.

Gardai have released an image of an overturned car following one incident. They have not disclosed any other information and it's known while that collision occurred.
