The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) is warning consumers with wheat (cereals containing gluten) allergies to avoid this popular brand of cakes, amid health concerns.
According to the FSAI, Matt Reilly Cakes' Iced Jam Bakes have wheat present and it is not declared on the ingredients list.

This can make the product unsafe for consumers who are allergic to or intolerant of cereals containing gluten (wheat) and therefore, these consumers should not eat the product. "The affected batches are being recalled," said the authority.
The affected batches include all best before dates that have 'flour' in the ingredients list without emphasising the allergen.
These iced jam bakes are sold in a number of supermarkets across the country. Those with gluten allergies and intolerance are urged not to consume the items.
