The Eurovision Song Contest 2025 is right around the corner and Ireland has recently chosen a singer to represent the country in the song contest.

This year, the Eurovision is taking place in Basel in Switzerland after the country won last year.

The Eurovision Semi-Finals will take place on Tuesday May 13 and Thursday May 15 with the 69th Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final taking place on Saturday May 17.

24-year-old Norwegian singer Emmy has been chosen to represent Ireland at this years Eurovision Song Contest.

She was crowned champion on RTE's Late Late Show Eurosong Special with her track 'Laika Party'.

Emmy co-wrote 'Laika Party' with an Irish songwriter named Larissa Tormey from Kilbeggan in Westmeath, who she met at a songwriting camp.

Speaking after the Late Late Show, Emmy said: "I'm speechless... thank you so, so much! Wow - we're so excited. I hope I will make you proud Ireland."

"I'm feeling more Irish every day now. Whenever I hear an Irish accent, I feel at home," Emmy said to RTÉ Entertainment.

You can watch the Eurovision live on RTE One and RTE Player.

According to RTE, last year viewers around the world could only vote 24 hours before the Grand Final but not post-broadcast because of a new rule.

Ten songs from each semi-final will qualify for the grand final and will then join last year's winning country, Switzerland, along with the Big Five (France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom) for a total of 26 songs.

Fans from all participating countries can vote over the phone, by text or via the Eurovision app but people are not able to vote for their own country.

The public votes make up half of the total vote, with the other half is determined by a jury in each participating country.

Sweden currently shares the record for most Eurovision wins together with Ireland - with a tally of seven victories each at the contest.

So who will take home the victory of Eurovision 2025?
