NCT issues warning after tester uncovers shocking DIY fix that led to instant test fail

NCT testers have issued a stark warning to Irish drivers after discovering a terrifying DIY fix during a recent inspection.

In a short video shared by NCT Ireland on Facebook, a technician is seen gently pressing one of four wheel nuts on a car.

It instantly wobbles before coming off entirely in their hand, revealing that the nut had been filled with silicone in an apparent effort to keep it in place.

“Have you lost your wheel nuts?” NCT Ireland wrote. “Don’t be fooled—silicone isn’t the fix!”

The car was immediately failed on visual inspection, with the NCT team reminding drivers that wheel nuts are checked for “presence, security and condition” during the test.

It’s not the first time testers have flagged jaw-dropping DIY efforts on vehicles brought in for inspection.

Just weeks ago, a car presented at an NCT centre had a twig taped into place to replace a missing suspension part — another visual fail that sparked outrage and disbelief online.
