Young Irish man dies tragically during holiday in Portugal
Hundreds of tributes have poured in for young Irish man Dylan McCahey who died in a tragic accident while on holiday in Portugal.
Dylan's RIP.ie tribute read, "it is with profound sadness that we announce the death of Dylan McCahey on 17th May 2025, tragically, whilst on holiday in Portugal."
He was predeceased by his infant sister Nicole and his granddads James McCahey and Michael McPhillips.
Dylan will be sadly missed and forever remembered with love by his heartbroken family; his parents PJ and Geraldine, his brother Alan and his sister Caitlin (Colin), his grannies Bridget McCahey and Teresa McPhillips, his uncles, aunts, cousins, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.
Heartfelt messages have been left on RIP.ie, from those who knew and fondly remembered Dylan, with one mourner writing,
"Deepest sympathy to Pj , Geraldine, Alan and Caitlin on the sudden passing of Dylan our hearts are broken for you, Dylan was one of the nicest lads you could meet. May he rest in peace."

Another message said, "Deepest sympathy to all the Mccahey family. A lovely young lad who made us all smile. Unbelievable really. Till we all meet again. The Garvey family."
"Heartbroken for you all...so so sorry for your devastating and sudden loss. A Beautiful young Man. Thinking of you Geraldine, PJ and all the Family...Rest in Peace Dylan," another person said.
"My deepest condolences to P.J, Geraldine, Alan, Caitlin and to all the McCahey and McPhilips families on the sad passing of Dylan. I was heartbroken to hear of your loss. I had the privilege of teaching Dylan
and remember him as a truly bright, kind-hearted and thoughtful pupil. Thinking of you all during this incredibly difficult time. He has touched many lives and will be deeply missed," a former teacher wrote.
"Shockingly sad news. Deepest condolences to Dylan's family and friends at this terribly difficult time. May he Rest in Peace," a tribute read.
