Met Éireann pinpoints area to be worst hit as 'low pressure' looms in weather update
Met Éireann is predicting a rather mixed week of weather for Ireland with a 22C heat blast by midweek and a low pressure system following behind it.
Sunseekers have been wishing for the return of sunshine after a few weeks of warm weather in May, but while things look like heating up in the coming days, low pressure will bring unsettled weather too.
In their forecast for Sunday, Met Éireann says: "Generally cloudy today with scattered showers, some heavy across Ulster and north Leinster. Showers mainly becoming confined to Atlantic areas as of mid-afternoon with some sunny spells developing further east. Highest temperatures of 13 to 17 degrees, in a mostly moderate westerly wind.
"Generally cloudy tonight too with some further well scattered showers, but with a lot of dry weather across Munster and Leinster. Lowest temperatures of 5 to 9 degrees in just light southwesterly breezes."
Looking into the coming week, they say it will be "cloudy or overcast on Monday with some falls of rain and drizzle, mainly affecting the northern half the country, heaviest across Ulster. Staying dry further south outside of the off spot of drizzle. Humid with highest temperatures of 13 to 17 degrees, in just light southwesterly breezes.

"Rather cloudy with outbreaks of rain across the northern half of the country with occasional drizzle elsewhere [Monday night]. The best of the dry weather in the south and southeast. Perhaps a little milder overnight with lowest temperatures of 9 to 12 degrees with a southwesterly breeze.
"Another cloudy and more unsettled day [Tuesday] with rain and overcast conditions for the afternoon and evening with the most persistent spells along our western counties. Southwesterly breezes will continue with highest temperatures of 16 to 19 degrees.
"Cloudy with rain continuing but it will become patchy as the night goes on with some dry spells developing especially in the east. Southwesterly breezes will fall light overnight with lowest temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees. Some areas of mist and fog will form particularly in Munster and south Leinster."
For Wednesday, Met Éireann predicts it will be "cloudy with showers developing through late morning and into the afternoon. They may be heavy at times in the north with a developing southerly breeze. Feeling milder too with highest temperatures of 19 to 22 degrees."

Beyond that, they ominously predict: "Low pressure looks to dominate the weather with showers and rather cloudy conditions overall. Milder air will be moving up from the south so temperatures are likely to reach the low 20s but this could also increase the chance of heavy showers particularly for more northern areas."
