Met Eireann pinpoints rain and thunder for week ahead following heatwave
Met Eireann has issued an updated weather forecast following the last few days of sunshine and temperatures of up to 30 degrees.
For the week ahead, Met Eireann has predicted 'changeable and mixed weather' but temperatures will stay in the early 20s for the most part.
On Monday June 23, it'll be mainly dry with variable cloud and some sunny spells developing.
Met Eireann said: "there will be outbreaks of rain and drizzle moving into the west and southwest by evening time, becoming a little more widespread by nightfall, accompanied by some hill and coastal mist and fog.
Highest temperatures of 16 to 22 degrees, coolest in the northwest and warmest in the south, in mainly moderate west to southwest breezes, fresh at times in coastal parts of the north and west."
On Tuesday June 24, there will be "just a little light patchy rain and drizzle here and there" before heavy rain is set to hit later on in the week.
"Some bright or sunny spells will develop at times. Highest temperatures of 15 degrees in the northwest to 22 degrees in the south in mostly moderate southwest to west winds, fresh for a time in western coastal parts, decreasing light to moderate later."
Met Eireann said the weather will continue to be changeable and mixed for the rest of the week, with some rain at times.
There will also be drier sunnier interludes too.

It'll be relatively mild and humid at times, with the warmest conditions in the south and east and breezy at times too, Met Eireann said.
On Wednesday June 25, it is predicted that there will be a good lot of dry weather for the morning and afternoon, with just a few scattered showers.
A spell of rain will spread from the west during the evening, becoming heavy at times with the chance of thunder.
There'll be some hill and coastal mist and fog too especially further south, with highest temperatures of 17 to 22 degrees.
Thursday, according to Met Eireann, will be a breezy day with some spells of sunshine in the morning and just a few showers.
"It'll become cloudier through the afternoon, with more in the way of showers around, especially in the west and north, while a spell of more persistent rain is likely to spread eastwards later on."
Highest temperatures will be between 15 and 19 degrees in fresh and gusty southwesterly winds, strong at times in western and southern coastal parts.
Friday will be another breezy day with a good deal of cloud and further outbreaks of rain and drizzle, along with some hill and coastal mist and fog, according to Met Eireann.
"The rain will possibly be heavy at times in the west and north. It'll be drier further to the east and south, where there'll be some bright or sunny spells. Mild or warm and humid with highest temperatures of 17 to 23 degrees, warmest in the east."
