Two people have died following fatal road traffic collisions

Tributes have poured in for a 19-year-old girl after she died in hospital as a result of a tragic road collision in Galway on Sunday last.

Gardaí continue to appeal for witnesses following a two-car road traffic collision that occurred at Ballygaddy Road in Tuam in Co Galway, at around 6:05pm on Sunday July 13 2025.

Samantha Gannon was conveyed to University Hospital Galway, where she has since passed away.

The driver and passenger of the second car (a male in his 20s and a female in her 30s) were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information regarding this incident to come forward as investigations are ongoing.

Tributes have poured in for Samantha from her friends, family and community following the tragic events.

A close friend of the young girl made a tribute post on Facebook which read: "Had her whole life ahead her only 19. Many good memories in secondary school with her. Rest in Peace Samantha Gannon may you get the best bed in heaven forever 19".
Other mourners commented, "RIP Samantha. I can’t believe it. The nicest girl" and "That’s a sin. RIP she was lovely girl".
"R.I.P so sorry for your loss of your beautiful daughter Samantha. Thoughts and prayers are with all the family especially Frank and Bridie at this sad time," another person said.
