A driver is set to appear in court after being stopped by Gardaí in Kildare during a nationwide crackdown.
The van driver was pulled over by members of An Garda Síochána, who were out on patrol as part of the national day of action on uninsured driving. This awareness campaign, which took place on Wednesday, July 16, saw Gardaí conduct targeted patrols and enforcement activities in the area.
While keeping watch on the N7, The Naas Roads Policing Unit observed a van driver texting behind the wheel. The vehicle was stopped and checks using the Garda Mobility Device revealed that this driver was disqualified from the roads for 12 years. They also had no driving licence or insurance.
The driver was arrested, brought to Naas Garda Station and then charged.
A spokesperson for Gardaí in the county said, "They will appear in court in due course. The van was seized under the Road Traffic Act. An Garda Síochána reminds all motorists of the serious consequences of driving without insurance or a valid licence."
