A motorcyclist has been arrested and is now awaiting court after being caught by Gardaí travelling at an unthinkable speed.
On Monday, July 21, the Cavan Roads Policing Unit were carrying out their usual checkpoints when they detected a motorcyclist speeding.
This person was found to be travelling at 171km on the busy N55, which has a 100km speed limit.

The motorcyclist was arrested for dangerous driving and is charged to court.
The motorbike was seized under section 109a RTA and the owner must now apply to the courts for its return.
A spokesperson for An Garda Síochána in the county said, "Please drive safely and within the speed limits. Excessive speed is a major contribution to road collisions, injuries and deaths on our roads."
