Irish holidaymakers hit with Status Red flood warning in popular holiday destination
Irish people travelling in Spain have been hit with a Status Red weather warning for heavy rain which will take affect on Wednesday.
The Spanish national forecaster, Aemet, has warned that over 60mm of rain could fall in just one hour and possibly 120mm over three or four hours on Wednesday night.
Aemet has also warned of flooding in places and sudden rises in riverbeds.

The Status Red warning will impact the popular tourist destination Barcelona as well as Tarragona.

This warning will lift by Thursday, however a Status Orange warning will remain in place for many parts of Spain due to the risk of heavy rain and thunder.

The Status Orange warning will move towards the southwest on Thursday, affecting the Balearic Islands. A Status Yellow warning will continue to be in place for these parts on Friday as the rain slowly dies down.
