Learner's souped-up car with pink headlights 'begged' for Garda attention before seizure

Gardaí say the learner driver's decked-out car stood out for all the wrong reasons

Learner's souped-up car with pink headlights 'begged' for Garda attention before seizure

An Irish learner driver is facing a string of charges after their eye-catching car "begged" for garda attention, and duly got it.

Gardaí said the vehicle was pulled over after a number of glaring red flags, including a windscreen sticker that read "EVADE", bright pink headlamps, and non-compliant number plates.

But things only got worse from there.

The front tyre was bald, L plates were missing, and the driver, who was only on their first learner permit, was unaccompanied at the time.

"A learner driver came to our attention when their vehicle was equipped with it, even down to the EVADE tint strip," Kilkenny gardaí posted online, describing the situation as "irony" in action.

"The car with it's pink headlamps and non conforming number plates was also found to have a bald rhf tyre and an unaccompanied learner (with a first permit held for less than a year). L plates were also conspicuous by their absence."

The car was seized on the spot and Gardaí confirmed that proceedings will follow.
