Gardaí investigate 'unexplained' death of elderly man (70s) found unresponsive in Kerry

He was found outside a premises on Church Street in Kilgarvin

Kerry Gardaí have launched an investigation following the discovery of an unresponsive man who later died in hospital. 

On Wednesday, July 30 at approximately 4am, Gardaí were notified that a male, aged in his 70s, had been brought to University Hospital Kerry in Tralee. Just before this, he was found unresponsive outside a premises on Church Street in Kilgarvin.

The man was subsequently pronounced dead at the hospital, with Gardaí calling the death "unexplained." 

The State pathologist and the local coroner have been notified and a post-mortem examination has been arranged. The outcome will determine the course of the investigation.

The scene was preserved and investigations are ongoing.
