Following a roadside stop in Clare, an unaccompanied learner driver is now facing court after gardaí found them to be breaking several laws. Their vehicle was also seized.

Members of An Garda Síochána in the county were conducting patrols when they spotted an unusual looking Nissan Qashqai.

What made the vehicle stand out initially was the blue lights that were specifically fitted to the bonnet of the car, just above the headlights.

Gardaí pulled over the vehicle as the use of blue lights is restricted under Irish law, where only emergency services can possess such a feature.

Upon being stopped, the motorist was found to be a learner driver who was unaccompanied

Along with this, it was also confirmed that the Nissan Qashqai did not have insurance.

Taking to social media, a spokesperson for An Garda Síochána in Clare said, "The vehicle was seized and driver will now have to explain to the Judge why they had the light and no insurance, L-Plates or accompanying driver."
