Ian Walsh from Tipperary who was found in a pool of blood in his home
The man found in a pool of blood in his home in Tipperary in the early hours of Monday morning last has been named locally as Ian Walsh.
The body of the 49 year old man was found when family members and neighbours went to check on him as they were concerned he had not been seen for some days.
He was found unresponsive in a house in Carrick-on-Suir and Gardai were alerted immediately.
Gardaí are investigating all the circumstances surrounding the discovery of the body.
Gardaí are attempting to establish his last known movements. Door-to-door inquiries will be carried out in the estate where he lived.
Gardaí will also check CCTV security camera footage from houses in the area to determine any movements to and from the property.
Family, friends and large communities have been left shocked and devastated as tributes rush in for Ian following his death.
Ian Walsh was well known in his community and worked in the public transport sector and was known all over the country as a rail enthusiast and widely respected for his extensive knowledge of the rail infrastructure in Ireland.
Tailte Tours paid tribute to the deceased in a Facebook post on Monday.

Tributes have rushed in across social media posts and one person said: "Shocking news. A good friend to many in the job. Rest in peace Ian. Very sad news".
Another person said: "That's shocking news , Ian was a gentleman may he Rest in Peace".
Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information related to this incident to come forward, including any road users who were in the area of Cregg Road, Carrick-On-Suir, between 8pm on Friday, August 1 2025, and 3:30am on Monday, August 4, 2025.
Additionally, anyone who may have camera footage, including dash-cam, and was traveling in the area at the time is asked to make it available to Gardaí.
