Shock and heartbreak for many as a young man, Evan Irwin (18), dies tragically from County Mayo.

"Our deepest condolences to the Irwin family on the loss of Evan, a former underage player with the club ", posted Swinford GAA on Monday September 1 afternoon.

"He will be very sadly missed by his team mates, coaches, club members and his many friends. May Evan rest in peace."

Evan will be fondly remembered by his loving and heartbroken parents Pat and Yvonne (née Fennell), cherished brother to Adam, Leah and Calum and wonderful grandson to Phillip and Eileen (née McDonnell).

He will be sadly missed by his parents, brothers, sister, grandparents, aunts, uncles, grandaunts, granduncles, cousins, Leah’s partner Andrew, relatives, kind neighbours, many friends especially those in his Darts Association and his beloved dogs Benny and Brandy.

Along countless RIP.ie messages, Cill Chómain GAA said: "our heartfelt sympathies to the Irwin family on the sad and untimely passing of Evan Irwin.
Evan played some underage football with our club and will always be remembered as a beautiful young lad, with a precious smile and a warm greeting for everyone he met. He brought joy to those around him both on and off the field."

Another message said: "Thinking of our dear friend Evan on his tragic passing, may he rest in peace. We will miss your presence and massive smile when you came though our door. From Michelle and all the gang from Raftery’s Oakland, Glenamaddy."

"Our deepest condolences to all who loved and will miss Evan and there are so, so many.
We'll miss the videos of Evan's shenanigans with Aogán every week. Evan brought a smile and laughter to so many faces.
May god comfort all who mourn him and give them strength to deal with this enormous loss," another person said.

Funeral Arrangements:

Evan's remains will be reposing at Campbell’s Funeral Home, Swinford on Tuesday September 2 from 4 o’clock until 7 o’clock and at the residence of his grandparents Philip and Eileen Irwin, Lenarevagh, Glenamoy on Wednesday evening from 4 o’clock until 7 o’clock.

Funeral will arrive at St Paul’s Church, Glenamoy on Thursday September 4 afternoon for Funeral Mass at 2 o’clock followed by burial in Glenamoy Cemetery.
