Motorcyclist (30s) rushed to hospital with 'serious injuries' after crash on busy road

A motorcyclist in his late 30s is fighting for his life after a serious crash involving a car in Westmeath on Saturday evening.

The collision happened shortly after 5.30pm on Main Street in Rochfortbridge, Co. Westmeath. Emergency services rushed to the scene, and the motorcyclist was taken to Tullamore Hospital with serious injuries.

Gardaí confirmed last night that the scene had been sealed off for a technical examination, with local traffic diversions in place.

A spokesperson said: "Gardaí are currently at the scene of a serious road traffic collision involving a car and a motorcycle that occurred at approximately 5:30pm on Saturday, 27th September 2025, on Main Street, Rochfortbridge, Co. Westmeath.

"The motorcyclist, a male in his late 30s, sustained serious injuries and was taken to Tullamore Hospital for treatment."

Gardaí are now appealing for anyone who may have been in the area at the time to come forward.

They added: "Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling through Rochfortbridge between 5:15pm and 5:45pm are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí."
