Job Alert: Gardaí hiring for big civilian job with a starting salary of over €80,000

An Garda Síochána is recruiting for a new senior civilian role with a starting salary of over €81,000, as part of a major expansion of its internal reform and transformation programme.

The Strategy and Transformation Manager position is being created within Garda headquarters to help drive change across the organisation.

In the official Garda information booklet, the force says the Strategy and Transformation Office is being expanded to “provide a more structured and professionalised approach to change and transformation across An Garda Síochána”.

It confirms the post will support “the design, development and delivery of Garda strategies, programmes and initiatives” and help ensure major projects are properly planned, tracked and delivered.

The role is based in Dublin, primarily between Ashtown Gate, Dublin 15 and Garda Headquarters in the Phoenix Park, Dublin 8.

The salary scale is at the Assistant Principal Officer level, starting at €81,475 and rising to €101,535.

The booklet states that the postholder will play a central role in shaping the future of policing in Ireland, working with senior Garda management and Government bodies, including the Department of Justice.

It explains that the successful candidate will be responsible for “leading and managing key strategic and transformation initiatives” and for “supporting the delivery of An Garda Síochána’s reform and modernisation agenda”.

Applicants do not need to be Garda members. The role is open to external candidates with senior-level experience in strategy, transformation, public sector reform, governance, or major programme delivery.

Candidates must hold an honours degree (Level 8 or higher) and have significant experience in a leadership role. The booklet adds that applicants must be able to show “a proven track record of delivering complex change programmes in a large organisation”.

The Garda recruitment team says the role is key to ensuring the organisation can continue to evolve, stating that it will “strengthen the organisation’s capacity to respond to a rapidly changing operational, technological and public service environment”.

Applications close at 3pm, January 26 2026.

Recruitment is managed on behalf of An Garda Síochána by Staffline, and people can apply there.
