Civic Reception in Clonmel to bid farewell to the Franciscan Order

The Friary in Clonmel will close after Masses this Friday, January 6

The Franciscan Order will receive a Civic Reception in Clonmel to mark its departure from the town after 753 years.

District Mayor Pat English has stated that the Friars were central to the daily life of the town since 1269.

He told a meeting of Clonmel Borough District that the reception would be a fitting thank you to the order on behalf of the people of the town.

The Friary in Abbey Street, Clonmel will close after Masses this coming Friday, January 6.

A date has yet to be decided for the Civic Reception.
