What’s going on at the back of the Cahir Park soccer field? Work resumes for Tipperary!

There are plenty colours along the Swiss Walk and in case you are wondering what’s going on at the back of the Cahir Park soccer field area as there are some pieces of outdoor gym equipment being installed that are suitable for wheelchair users and older persons too.

Just a reminder if you are heading out for a walk with your dog to please make sure that you have a bag in your pocket as some times the dispensers can run out of stock.

The past year (2022) has  been an eventful year for us retaining our bronze medal No 5, Youth TT awards, Social Inclusion Asiam award, AXA Parks, Green Flag awarded, Orchards of Ireland Suir Engineering, National Tree Week, TÚS Tree Project, Trees of the Land and we still have Coill Beag and the Pride of place nomination early this year yet to come for 2022.

Thanks to Tipperary County Council, TÚS, the sponsors and Tipp volunteers as well as our own, plus the ETB and the schools, the administration  in CDA for their assistance, the media for their coverage and to everyone for their kind words and support during the year.

Unfortunately we must do it all again from next week onwards to hold on to our bronze medal and we still have an exciting LEADER project on the burner to move onwards.

Other activities

The Group tidied up around town last Wednesday after a few days of over indulgence and enjoyment by everyone. We also held an extra can recycling day last Thursday for a post Christmas clear out. We hope that everyone makes a commitment to holding onto their drinks cans for us in 2023 as we keep the tree planting going around the town.

We will also continue our relationship with ABP for 2023 to try to collect four tonne of drinks cans and do a lot more planting. Please remember, drinks cans only as any other cans will contaminate the batch.

So a Happy New Year and thanks again to everyone for supporting Cahir Tidy Towns, the results really are a community effort.
