Hard working Elves defeat Santas at end of great year for Cahir Ladies Gaelic Football

The Elves team who took to the field against The Santas in the annual Cahir Ladies Gaelic Football Club game at Cahir on St Stephen’s Day morning. The event rounded off a great year for the club.

The Cahir Ladies Gaelic Football Club annual Santa V Elves football match took place St Stephen’s Day morning.

The Santas took the early lead but in the end it was the Elves that came out on top.

Thanks to Thelma Sheehan for once again organising a great turnout of our Junior, Senior and Gaelic for Mothers and others teams on the morning. Well done to all who turned up.

The club would like to say to all of our parents - Thank you for the hours that you spend in the car driving to training and games and for washing loads of disgustingly sweaty gear, thank you for giving up your evenings & weekends and time that you could have used for your own interests, thank you for spending your hard-earned money on your girls dreams and for loving your daughter whether they won or lost.

Thank you for managing schedules so that your footballer is always where they need to be and for being brave in the face of injuries and setbacks.

Thank you for understanding that practices might come before family breaks and for your patience when training runs late.
Thank you for showing up to games even when you are too nervous to actually watch and for encouraging your girl to keep going when they needed the extra push.

Thank you for trusting the coaches and the girls themselves and for caring about your daughter’s happiness and well-being and ultimately thank you for your constant support.

To our coaches and helpers – thank you for your dedication and direction that has put fire in our girl’s souls. You have inspired them to do their best and to be the best that they can be. Your lessons will be remembered long after the game is won. You've taught them about commitment perseverance and hope and as they go through life they will be better adults for knowing you. They will be able to cope with all their struggles their failures and their success, because they had you for a coach.

To our players - Each one of you has taught us something valuable about the game, and about life. Each one of you matter. Each of you is important. Each of you has been a special blessing to each team. You may not all have the same gifts, but you have gifts nonetheless – and our hopes for each of you is that you remain constantly aware of how amazing you are and will carry your gifts forward to the big world in front of you.

You are special and capable, strong and talented and never let anyone tell you otherwise.
You have made us laugh, you have made us cry, and you have made us happy. You have frustrated us at times, but mostly, you have made us proud.

See you all in the New Year.
