All-Ireland Under 16 pitch and putt champion Joe Franklin
His putt and putt success in 2022 secured an Annerville award for Joe Franklin.
Joe and the other winners of these amateur sports awards, which are sponsored by Bulmers, will be honoured by the Tipperary United Sports Panel at a ceremony at the Talbot Hotel next Saturday night, January 21.
Joe made headlines in July when he won the National Under 16 Match Play championship.
The 14-year-old had already made people sit up and take notice by winning the Munster title, and his success in the national competition was his crowning glory for the year.
The Hillview Sports Club, Clonmel member played some fantastic pitch and putt over the two days at the Ryston course in Newbridge.
After he got the better of Michael Holland from Gowran in the semi-final, the final was a great game. It was a tense affair in which there were never more than three holes between Joe or Daniel Campbell from the host club Ryston.
The match went all the way to the last hole, where Joe sunk a nice putt for par to calm the nerves and clinch the title.
He is also a golfer of no little ability and his sporting future appears very bright.
