Clonoulty Rossmore have announced their plan to pay a fitting tribute to their former hurler Dillon Quirke who sadly passed away at 24 years of age while playing for his club in a Championship match last year.
It was a passing that didn’t just shock the GAA community, but one that shocked the whole of the country, and now the west Tipperary club have decided that his name will forever live on through their GAA ground.
This touching tribute is just the latest in the long line of tributes that have come forward since Quirke’s passing, with several initiative set up by his family, his club, the county board, and other clubs around Tipperary.
The Dillon Quirke Foundation was set up recently by Dillon’s family and has been busy raising funds to highlight awareness of Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS), with the recent U21 hurling tournament raising funds.
The Tipperary county board are doing their part also for the foundation, with the entry fees for the Tipperary versus Kilkenny hurling league clash in Kilkenny in February going straight to the foundation.
