Mountain rescuers escort walkers stranded in fog off the Galtees

South Eastern Mountain Rescue volunteers escorted two walkers off the Galtee Mountains on Saturday (January 28) after they got caught out in thick fog.

The man and woman were descending from Galtymore when they became engulfed in fog. The contacted the emergency services around 4.25pm and SEMRA were called out to bring them down from the mountainside.

A SEMRA spokesperson said the walkers were well equipped with walking boost, waterproof jacks, hats and ruck sacks.
