Tipperary woman's book is ‘a true gem in the art of communication’

Fiona Brennan-Scott, the author, is originally from Thomas Street, Clonmel and now lives in south Oxfordshire

A Clonmel woman now based in south Oxfordshire, who specialises in voice and speech coaching and training business leaders and subject matter experts, will sign copies of her book at its Tipperary launch in Clonmel next week.

Breathtaking Communication, Tools and Techniques for Everyday Leaders, is the title of the book by Fiona Brennan-Scott, which will be launched at Clonmel library from 3.45-5pm on Saturday week, February 18.

In the foreword Graeme Codrington, speaker, author, expert on the future of work and CEO of Tomorrow Today Global says “Whether you are a professional speaker, with years of experience and hundreds of speeches under your belt, or starting out just realising the importance of the spoken word to your life and career, this book is for you.

“It will take you from where you are through your next few steps of development, regardless of your starting point”.

He says the book is packed with practical exercises and advice that clearly comes from Fiona Brennan Scott’s own decades of experience.

“With this book as your guide, you’re just going to get better and better at delivering the spoken word to an audience. And as far as I am concerned, that will make the world a better place”.

After ten years in the corporate world, Fiona trained as a speech and drama teacher.

She ran two studios in South Africa and the UK before training as a Time to Think coach.

She is daughter of the late Eileen and Gerry Brennan, who were well-known and popular publicans in Thomas Street, and who also owned betting shops in Thomas Street, Irishtown and Bridge Street.

Fiona attended school at the Sisters of Charity and Loreto Secondary, Clonmel.

During her formative years she was immersed in the musical and theatrical life of her home town, singing with Ss Peter and Paul’s Church Choir in Primary School and with St Mary’s, Irishtown Church Choir in secondary school.

She was a founding member of the Gables School Theatre and when she was growing up the family, which included her parents and sisters Anne Maria and Gemma, attended every production staged at the White Memorial Theatre in Clonmel and most productions in Carrick-on-Suir.

She was a member of South Tipperary Art Group (STAG) from the age of 4 to 18, and as a teenager also played golf in Clonmel.

Breathtaking Communication is dedicated firstly to the late Mary Cummins, who ran the Gables School Theatre, and a few other of Fiona’s teachers and coaches over the years.

Dr Lynda Shaw, behavioural neuroscientist, business relationships mentor and speaker, says the book is “a true gem to read for those of us who realise that the art of great communication is the basis of everything”.

Breathtaking Communication will be on sale at The Book Market in Market Place, Clonmel.
