Two Tipperary athletes selected for Irish senior team for European Indoor Championships

Following the publication of the final 'Road to Istanbul' ranking list by  Athletics Ireland two Tipperary athletes have been selected on the Irish Senior Athletics team for the European Athletics Indoor Championships to be held in Istanbul from March 2-5, 2023.

Sharlene Mawdsley from Newport AC, who is coached by Gary Ryan, will compete in both the 400m individual and 4x400m relay. 

Carrick-on-Suir AC's Miriam Daly, who is coached by Hayley Harrison, will also compete in the 4x400m event.

Everyone involved in Tipperary athletics is delighted for Miriam whose years of dedicated hard work is being rewarded with a first senior international vest.

The team includes twice European Indoor 800m medallist Mark English, World Indoor 60m Hurdles finalist Sarah Lavin, Commonwealth Games Hepathlon medallist Kate O'Connor and recent national 60m record breaker Israel Olatunde. The Women's 4x400m relay team is included as one of only six qualifying nations and will compete in a straight final.

Athletes may yet be added to this team should an eligible athlete move into a qualifying spot on the 'Road to Istanbul'.
