Roscrea OSA Premier Taekwondo Club who are off to Barcelona
The excitement is palpable in the Roscrea OSA Premier Taekwondo Club this week as Taekwondo Master Kevin Cole and his students prepare for their trip to the Jordan Open Competition in Barcelona.
The Jordan Open is an international level competition, which will see taekwondo teams from all around the globe, fly to Barcelona to compete for gold.
Roscrea OSA will see eight of their top fighters fly out to Spain this Thursday for the day long competition, which will take place on March.
The fighters, ranging from only nine years old to eighteen, have been training hard for the past six months for this competition.
Master Cole who has trained in taekwondo for the past two decades is confident in his students' abilities in the lead up to the competition.
“Our preparation for the Jordan Open in Barcelona is going very well. They have worked extremely hard over the last few months. Them bringing back a few medals would be a great reward for all their hard work and great encouragement going
forward to the next competition," he said.
The Roscrea club which opened in 1999, aims to educate students from five years upwards in the Korean martial art.
The sport, which is based on the principles of courtesy, respect, integrity, perseverance, self-control, indomitable spirit and respect has become a pillar of the local sporting community with over 60 students attending the Roscrea Taekwondo Centre.
The club is open to all levels and beginners are always welcome.
