Tipperary's Sam Bennett finished in 20th place in today's second stage of the Paris-Nice cycling race.

The stage was won by Mads Pedersen (Trek-Segafredo) and the Danish rider is also the overall race leader.

The Carrick-on-Suir rider had been hoping to build on the second place he secured in yesterday's first stage but yesterday's fastest finishers, who also included Tim Merlier (Soudal Quick-Step) and Arnaud De Lie (Lotto Dstny) were never a factor in the sprint.

Sam Bennett is fifth in the overall classification.

Tomorrow's stage is a team time trial.
