Gardaí are investigating an attempted house break-in and theft of a van on the same night in the Bohercrowe area near Tipperary Town.
The occupants of a house in this rural community were awoken at 12.45am on Tuesday, March 7 by a man trying to gain entry to their home through a bathroom window. He fled when disturbed by the family.
Meanwhile, a van parked in a yard elsewhere in Bohercrowe was stolen sometime between 3am and 6am on the same night.
A Garda spokesman said they are investigating whether there is a connection between both incidents.
He appealed to anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in the Bohercrowe area in the early hours of March 7 to contact Tipperary Town Garda Station at (062) 80670.
