Man deemed a danger to himself fined by Thurles District Court

A man who was deemed a danger to himself has been fined €200 at Thurles District Court.

Killian O’Connell (28) of 24 Hawthorn Drive, Thurles, was charged with being intoxicated in a public place.

The court heard that the gardaí had received a report saying a male was highly intoxicated at Stradavoher Thurles on March 4, 2023.

On arrival, the arresting garda said he had observed Mr O’Connell swerving into the road, and when he spoke to him, Mr O’Connell’s speech was slurred.

He deemed the man a danger to himself, arrested him and took him to Thurles Garda Station, where he was charged.

Judge Elizabeth MacGrath fined Mr O’Connell €200.
