Hands for Life CPR & AED Training

On Thursday, March 2, Ballymacarbry Community Centre hosted a very informative and potentially life-saving AED & CPR training delivered by Mark and Peter from Lismore Community First Responders.

We are hugely grateful to both Mark and Peter for giving up their time and relaying their experience to everyone on the night. We’re also thankful to each and every participant for coming along and learning skills that might one day save someone’s life.

Community First Responders (CFR) are volunteers who are trained to attend certain types of emergency calls in the area where they live or work. Their aim is to reach a potential life-threatening emergency in the first vital minutes before an ambulance crew arrives.

There are over 200 Community First Responder groups active in Ireland right now and they responded to 785 requests for assistance in January alone!

Our nearest Community First Responder group is the Newcastle Community First Responders.
If you are looking to find more information or would like to get involved with this Newcastle group please visit their Facebook page.
