Over 6,000 Tipperary premises are set to get high-speed Fibre-to-the-Home network under the National Broadband Plan on behalf of the Government.
National Broadband Ireland will visit Tipperary Town shopping centre this week (23rd, 24th and 25th March) to provide information to the public on whether they are one of the 3,000 premises in the town ready to connect and outline the benefits of superfast fibre broadband.
With 1,595 Clonmel premises also ready to connect to the network, Tipperary residents are being encouraged to visit the NBI website nbi.ie to check their Eircode and sign up for updates.
Peter Hendrick, Chief Executive Officer, National Broadband Ireland, said: “In Tipperary, we have already seen a great response from local homes, businesses and farms signing up to our high-speed broadband network.
"On the National Broadband Ireland website, people in the area can check their eligibility to connect to the network. A connection to our high-speed broadband creates limitless opportunities for users.”
Some 30,000 premises in Tipperary are included in the State’s Intervention Area, which will see NBI deliver minimum speeds of 500 megabits per second to homes, businesses, farms, and schools.
As the biggest investment in rural Ireland since rural electrification, County Tipperary will receive €118m of Government investment under the National Broadband Plan.
Works have already been completed in other parts of Tipperary and there are 5,846 premises that are available to order or pre-order high-speed, reliable broadband across the county, with 1,679 connections made to the network so far.
National Broadband Ireland is calling on people to visit nbi.ie/map/ and enter their Eircode to see if they are ready to connect.
