Tipperary council urged to copy Galway's successful dog poo clean-up awareness campaign

Tipperary County Council should follow the lead of Galway and replicate its local authority’s successful “Clean it up you dirty pup!”  campaign to get dog owners to clean up their pets’ poo. 

Cashel Fine Gael Cllr Declan Burgess proposed the council’s Environment Section refresh its dog fouling clean-up public awareness efforts by running the aptly titled campaign that was such a success in Galway.

“It seemed to gather a lot of attention and was quite successful. Limerick City & County Council is  rolling out a similar campaign, he told Tipperary County Council’s monthly meeting.

The issue was first raised at the council meeting by Carrick-on-Suir Cllr David Dunne who  declared the “scourge” of dog fouling was beyond him and was only getting worse not better no matter how many mutt mitts and bags the council put out to encourage people to clean up after their pet.  “It’s deplorable,” he said.
