Thurles students takes part in global green schools conference

Colaiste Mhuire Co-Ed Green Schools participated in the Worldwise Global Schools National Student Conference 2023.

We joined several other schools via zoom for a very informative seminar called “Under the Surface: Encouraging a Critical Exploration of Global Justice Issues”. Students got a chance to think about global citizenship critically.

We discussed Global Justice issues such as Genocide, Bias, Greenwashing & Scapegoating. There were discussions about how students can use their voice and influence to raise awareness, and to take meaningful action and link in with existing campaigns and actions.

Students were particularly intrigued by the Media Literacy segment pertaining to issues such as “fake news”, “misinformation“ and “the power of influencers”.

Many thanks to Ms. Meagher for her guidance and leadership with our most pro-active Green Schools team at CMCO this year.
