SADNESS: Tipperary community in mourning following the death of Mairead Gill

The late Mairead Gill

The local and business community in Nenagh has been saddened by the death of one of its best known business people, Mairead Gill.

Mairead (nee Cadell) ran the Peppermill restaurant in the town with her husband Robert.

Her family ran the Hibernian Inn, known affectionately as the Hi-B, on Pearse Street for many years.

She is an aunt of Tipperary senior hurler Paddy Cadell.

Ms Gill died following a long battle with illness, and raised thousands of euro for the Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association on her Motor with Mairead fundraising walk around Nenagh in April 2022.

Mairead, Ballyrusheen, Newtown, Nenagh, passed away peacefully on April 12 at home in the loving care of her family after a long illness bourne with great courage and dignity.

She was predeceased by her father, Paddy.

Deeply regretted by her loving husband Robert; daughter Gemma; son Peter; mother Teresa; brothers Paddy and John; sisters Siobhan and Therese; son-in-law Colm; Peter's partner Nikolina; adored grandchildren Alex and Sophie; sisters-in-law Noelle, Caroline, Fionnula and Grainne; brother-in-law Michael; nephews, nieces, relatives and many friends.

Reposing at Keller's Funeral Home, Nenagh (E45XO94) on Thursday from 4pm to 7pm.

Funeral arriving to Youghalarra Church on Friday morning at 10.45am for funeral mass at 11am followed by burial in Monsea cemetery.

Family flowers only, donations, if desired, to Irish Motor Neurone Disease Association.

House private.
