Horse Racing Ireland Ownership has teamed up with leading racehorse trainers around the country to offer racing fans and those interested in racehorse ownership a unique opportunity to get behind the scenes and experience a working training yard.

The trainer open mornings will run nationwide from May to September and are free to attend.

They include Tipperary trainers Edward O'Grady, at his yard near Killenaule on Saturday September 16, and Sam Curling's stables at Goolds Cross, Cashel on a date to be confirmed.

Last year 17 trainers hosted open mornings, with over 3,000 people visiting yards around the country. So far, 19 trainers from 11 different counties from Cork to Tyrone have signed up to host open mornings this year.

Those who wish to attend are asked to register their interest in advance, on www.racehorseownership.ie/openmorning

The open mornings will include a tour of their chosen yard and its facilities, watch the racehorses on the gallop, and meet with the trainer and their team.

Visitors will be welcomed to yards the length and breath of the country and can visit trainers such as Gordon Elliott, Shark Hanlon, Edward O’Grady, Tracey Collins and Michael Halford, Andy Oliver and Ross O’Sullivan.

Open mornings begin in May with three trainers, starting with Charles Byrnes, Rathkeale, county Limerick on May 6 followed by Jack Davison in Dunboyne, county Meath on May 13 and Michael Grassick on the Curragh in county Kildare on May 27.
