A scene from The Examination which comes to the Source on April 15
Brokentalkers The Examination is a new theatre performance which explores the theme of healthcare in the Irish prison system, takes place at The Source this April.
Performed by Brokentalkers’ Gary Keegan (the victim of a crime) and Willie White (stand-up comedian and former prisoner), The Examination blurs the boundaries of fiction and real life, as White and Keegan challenge each other’s perspectives on crime and criminal, victim, and villain.
The Examination explores mental health and human rights in the prison system, forcing us to look at how we judge criminals by their looks, voice, and especially their class.
The play draws on historical research and testimony from current and former prisoners. With powerful imagery and a visceral sound scape, The Examination is an uncompromising and revelatory interrogation of an aspect of society often ignored.
