Family of Tipperary man living in UAE trying to bring him home after suffering stroke

The family of Tipperary man John White, who is living in Dubai, have appealed for the public's help to bring him after he suffered a life altering stroke last March.

John - who has been unable to leave the UAE (United Arab Emirates) for the last 12 years because of a travel ban - and since his stroke in March has been unable to leave his bed in Sheikh Khalifa Hospital, Ajman, Dubai, ever since.

Due to the stroke he has lost sight in one eye and 50% in the other. He is unable to speak more than a couple of words. His short-term and long-term memory has been very badly affected.

He has a clot on his brain that cannot be removed with medication alone. He needs to be repatriated to Ireland where he can get the treatment he so badly needs and begin the long road to recovery.

Neither John, nor the family, are in a position to pay medical expenses to the hospital in Dubai and he will need financial support for repatriation to Ireland.

The Irish Embassy is liaising with the Authorities in the UAE to get John home on compassionate grounds. John's family would be most grateful for any support given.
