Clonmel Credit Union League Division 2
Cullen Lattin 3 – 0 Suirside
Cullen Lattin secured the Second Division title and immediate promotion back to the First Division with a 3-0 win over Suirside on a beautiful sunny Sunday afternoon in west Tipperary.
After a number of delays this game finally went ahead and the hosts took control right from the start, coming close on a number of occasions before finally opening the scoring in the 22nd minute when Danny O’Dwyer was fouled just outside the area, and Ben Carey’s resulting free kick took a wicked deflection to wrong foot the visiting ‘keeper.
This settled whatever nerves Cullen Lattin may have had, and they added a second eight minutes before the break when Carey again delivered into the box for Mickie O’Brien to score.
They kept this two-goal lead to the break, and started the second period with their tails up before adding a third goal just after the hour mark when Mikey Stokes tapped home after some good build- up play by Adam Lohan and Darragh O’Brien.
It was plain sailing from there to the end, to the delight of their supporters, who celebrated the title win with joy.
