Slievenamon Cycling Club members are undertaking a cycle over two routes on this Sunday, April 30, as part of the fundraising drive to support Carrick-on-Suir woman Marie Harris.

Marie, who is in her late 50s and has several health issues, is currently a patient in a stroke rehabilitation unit and her husband David has set up a GoFundMe appeal to adapt the couple’s home and bring her “back home where she belongs”.

At the time of writing, almost €14,000 of the €24,000 target has been raised. All donations are welcome and very much appreciated.

The cycle will be held over 50 kilometres and 100 kilometres routes, starting from 9am, and registration takes place at the Kilsheelan Kplan Community Centre from 8am on Sunday morning, and online via eventbrite.ie.

Slievenamon Cycling Club was established in 2014. It has a strong membership, mainly covering the areas of Kilsheelan, Kilcash, Grangemockler, Mullinahone, Killusty, Fethard, Ballingarry, Killenaule, Clonmel and Carrick-on-Suir.

The club caters for all levels of cyclists and also runs some fun cycling events for children.

The club has hosted a number of cycling events since its inception and has supported some very deserving causes financially through these cycling tours.

The club is very grateful for the ongoing support of its sponsors, Laharts Skoda, Clonmel Oil and the Cycologist cycling store.
