It was an unusual venue for Tipperary footballers - but full marks to the hosts

Declan Browne has full attention in the Tipp team huddle on what's required to see off Limerick prior to their game on Saturday last in Sologhead.

ACE OF HEARTS DRAW
With no winner to last week’s €3200 Jackpot, the following took the runners-up prizes, €50 to Edie Geary Barronstown (first name drawn), €25 each to Shane Ryan Limerick Junction, Richard Lonergan Oola, Mary Stapleton Ballygodoon, Kayala Lynch Monard Monard.
The seller prize went to John Joe O’Brien and the Jackpot for last Monday night, Monday night May 1, was increased to €3,300.
GAA
Sologhead completed their County League programme last Thursday evening, April 27, with an away trip against Thurles Gaels but had to leave empty handed as the Thurles side emerged the winners by a two point margin on a score line of 1-16 to 2-11.
Feature of the game for Sologhead was the accuracy of James Dee who landed 1-11 of the final total with the other goal coming from Tristan Stokes.

UPCOMING FIXTURES
On fixtures this weekend football takes centre stage with two games in the County League down for decision and for Bainisteóir Eamonn Bargary and his squad they will be hoping to add to their first round victory over Clerihan without picking up any injuries on the way.
First up this Friday, May 5, Sologhead will travel to Newcastle for a 7.30pm start and on Sunday, May 7, they play Ballyporeen in Sologhead with a 12noon throw-in.

INTER COUNTY FOOTBALL CHALLENGE
As they both now prepare for the upcoming Tailteann Cup, the senior footballers of Limerick and Tipperary played out a well contested challenge game in Sologhead on Saturday last in which Limerick emerged the winners with two points to spare, 0-13 to 0-11.
With a number of younger Tipperary players getting a chance to impress this was a vast improvement on the exploits against Kerry a week earlier in Killarney in the Munster championship.
While a good run in the Tailteann Cup would be a welcome odyssey, a quick return to division three would be the priority of players, management and supporters alike.

ST NICHOLAS CHURCH
Some items from St Nicholas’ Church notice board to tell us that every Friday for the month of May the Rosary will be recited at the grotto in the Church grounds each Friday evening commencing at 7.30pm.
Also during May following 10am Mass on each Friday Morning there will be an Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament which will run for approx one hour.

SOLOGHEAD NOTES
If you have any item or photograph you want included in the weekly notes you can contact me by phone or e-mail with details before 10pm on the Sunday night prior to publication.
