U15 Munster Minor Trophy: Our U15 boys travelled to Cahir Park on Thursday, April 27, for the Munster minor trophy final against ERSS Carrick-on-Suir.
Anyone who travelled was treated to a great game of soccer.
St Mary’s started brightly and were almost rewarded when Cathal McNamara had a goal chalked off after 12 minutes.
St Mary’s kept applying pressure but some last gasp tackles from the Carrick center-half prevented any shots getting through to the keeper.
Carrick almost scored late in the first half when a long range effort was tipped onto the crossbar by Tommy Whelan.
The deciding moment in the game came seven minutes into the second half when captain Ben Ross nutmegged the oncoming centre-half and found the top corner with a sweet strike from outside the box.
St Mary’s kept the pressure on and a couple of more good chances came by Scott Nugent, Alex Woodland and Cathal McNamara but none found the net.
Nathan Ebo then struck the crossbar with a long range free kick.
Carrick tried to find an equaliser late in the game, but hard work from Tadgh McGelligot and Kevin Fitzpatrick in midfield stopped Carrick from launching attacks.
Thank you to Ryans Centra and Inver for our new jerseys. Also thank you to Mr Nolan and
