Big wins for reigning champions Sean Treacys  as well as Cashel and Golden in the Crosco Cup

Defending champions Sean Treacys got their defence of the Bertie’s Bar Crosco Cup off to a winning start with a 0-29 to 1-15 victory over Arravale Rovers at Annacarty. A Cillian Kennedy point in the thirteenth minute had Sean Treacys four points clear but within five minutes Arravale Rovers had tied the game at 0-8 each. Sean Treacys pulled well clear by half time with eight unanswered points including two more from Patrick Carey placed balls. Carey finishing with fourteen points to his name. Sean Treacys led at the interval 0-16 to 0-8.


Darragh Kennedy and Patrick Carey helped extend that lead in the third quarter Midway through the final quarter Paddy Dawson to bring Treacys lead out to thirteen points. Arravale rallied with a late goal but it was mere consolation as Sean Treacys advanced.

Last year’s beaten finalists Cashel King Cormacs just got the better of Cappawhite, 1-19 to 1-18 when the sides met in Dundrum. The opening quarter was fairly even with Cashel just pulling three clear by end of it. A pointed Dara McCarthy free brought Cappawhite back to within three points after nineteen minutes. The turning point of the game came in the twenty third minute when Devon Ryan got in for goal. This helped Cashel King Cormacs to a 1-10 to 0-8 lead at the interval.


The second half start with plenty of scoring from both sides. By the eight minute a Devon Ryan free had stretched Cashel King Cormacs lead out to eight points. Cappawhite rallied Points from Sam Carmody (2), Kevin Stapleton and a goal from a Ryan Renehan penalty saw just two points separate the sides at the three-quarter mark. Two minutes into the third quarter Pakie Barry tied the game at 1-15 apiece. The sides traded scores with Cashel pulling ahead only for Cappawhite to draw level. Cian O’Carroll levelled with a minute to go only but a late Cashel point edged the 2021 champions into the semi-final.

The third quarter final saw Golden/Kilfeacle edge out Eire Og Annacarty Donohill in Bansha, 1-17 to 0-14. Eire Og led 0-10 to 0-9 at the interval. The major score of the game came ten minutes into the second half with Tom Byrnes finding the net for Golden/Kilfeacle. Byrnes finishing with 1-4. Golden/Kilfeacle finished the half stronger helped by three Andy Byrnes points while Daithi Bargary and Seanie O’Halloran finished off the scoring. Aidan Griffin was top score for Eire Og with 0-8.

The semi-finals will take place on Wednesday May 17th. Knockavilla Donaskeigh Kickhams take on Golden/Kilfeacle in Sean Treacy Park. The second semi-final is a repeat of last year’s final between defending champions Sean Treacys and Cashel King Cormacs in Clonoulty. Both games will throw in at 7.15pm. Finish on the day rules will apply.
